The Devil wears black, invisible in the night.
God wears white, he has nothing to hide.
The Devil drinks whiskey and cries for his pain.
God drinks water and casts all the blame.
The Devil’s seen much evil and taken part in it too.
The Devil has regrets, more than a few.
But God is good in all that he does.
The blood that he spills is all holy blood.
When the Devil kills, it’s just to survive.
He knows no one will care if he dies.
When God kills, he kills to erase.
To wipe from the earth all that would take his place.
When the Devil must, he kills with a knife.
He takes his time to watch as they die.
He takes no pleasure in the dreadful act,
but demonstrates a demon’s tact.
He looks ‘til the end, to know what he’s done.
Only a coward kills and runs.
But the Devil knows every face
of every soul he’s laid to waste
and at the end of every day,
he drinks his whiskey, filled with pain.
When God kills, he kills to erase.
When you judge him, it’s a crisis of faith.
He drops his bombs and closes his eyes.
He plugs his ears to drown the cries.
He tells the world, “Don’t be afraid! The bombs you see bring holy flames!”.
A flame that erases all who die,
in a place once called Palestine
