"The Gang in charge" and "Banana Republic Redux"

The Gang in charge

White - washing            everything
flat finish                  a good concealer
of all the blemishes they can’t deal with

              cheapskate bullshit
best to keep the floodlights on

Banana Republic Redux

O! you servile oligarchy

Let me greenback you some dead presidents
you can fan your swelter with

We have no bananas today
               Don't care about tomorrow
And miss the old plantation culture from yesterday

That rain forest isn’t making anybody any money
and we see a quick buck in the clearing of it

One banana, two banana, three banana, four
With labor this cheap, we can tally many more

If your democratically elected leader don’t like it
We've got a tin pot replacement who’ll light big fat cigars
at his desk with our kickbacks

Democracy is only for those who can handle it
               and they need bananas
So we need you to be our banana republic

And one day there will be an upscale clothing and accessories retailer
                That calls itself Banana Republic
                              without irony
