"Miranda" and "Winter in Ukraine"

Miranda

You have the right to remain silent.
You have the right to be silenced.
You have the right to have your next of kin
identify your remains.

Do you have the right to be resistant?
Do you have the right to resist resistance?

Winter in Ukraine

Winter in Ukraine
church bells ring fading under
deafening air sirens.

On a Sunday open-air market
in the shadow of the church,
a gentle snow flurry
covers footprints.

The sirens subside.

The church bells persist.
