That night, as Lewis stepped out of the shower, he didn’t feel quite as sore as usual. He’d given a full workout, and he felt a little sore, but not wiped out like usual. Maybe the GetJakked was actually helping. He was also starving. He ate two sandwiches and a bunch of chips, and he washed it down with a protein shake. After finishing, he was tired. He did his dishes and went to bed.
While he was sleeping, Lewis had a terrible dream. He was him, but he wasn’t quite him. He was a monstrous version of himself. His muscles looked like the body that he wanted, but even more. Like he’d been drawn by a little kid who’d been asked to draw the most badass superhero possible. In his dream, Lewis was strong but thoughtless. Every person that he encountered, he would crush. There was an old man looking at him, scared. Lewis walked up to him, grinning, then he picked up the man and literally tore him in half. The man screamed for a few seconds, then he stopped, destroyed. The monster self of Lewis drank the old man’s blood straight from his torso.
After that passed, there was a family just trying to enjoy a show together. Lewis broke into their house, passing through a rear door to the kitchen, and grabbing a knife. He used the knife to stab out the eyes of the father while the mother and daughter screamed. He then laughed as he picked the daughter up by her feet and used her as a weapon to bash in the mother’s head.
Lewis woke up sweating and gasping for air. He picked up his phone and googled GetJakked to see if nightmares were a side effect, but, this time, no results came up at all. Lewis rubbed his eyes and looked again. It didn’t seem possible. He thought about texting Brady, but he had a feeling that that would be crossing a line. Lewis tried to go back to sleep. He felt a little sore, but the main thing that kept him up was the uneasiness. He tossed and turned for most of the night.
When Lewis finally got up, he felt jittery. His head ached. Lewis sat up and rubbed his eyes. He stood, and he felt fine, no light-headedness. Just the low-grade anxiety. He went to the bottle of GetJakked and picked it up. There was no dosage information, no real information of any kind, really. “What the fuck did I do?”
Lewis checked his phone. He needed to get ready for work. After closing his eyes and taking a deep breath, Lewis decided to take another pill out of the bottle. He wondered what it was. Some chemical? Some ancient herb? It had made him feel more on his game yesterday. Brady looked at the pill while he turned on the coffee maker. After a little while, Lewis poured a little water in his coffee cup and drank, swallowing the pill.
