Splattered Glass
Tammy stepped out the pink door,
Silver leash in hand
And the wheezing dog dragged by its paws.
Neighbors peeked from blue curtains
Buzz or howl at the elevator,
Silver button pushed, gliding doors opened.
Tammy walked her way in.
Graffiti walls covered the music venue
And cheap flyers plastered onto brown tables.
A tattooed bartender
served lemon dippers
Black nail polish for midnight skeenters.
Smashed guitars thrown off stage
Leather jackets torn to shreds.
Tammy’s dump truck echoed out the bass,
Thunder thighs for lustful eyes
And curves curled around rainbow hips.
She walked her dog out of the concert
And hitched a ride upstate,
Farming marijuana for long haired goths.
Toothless Sharks
In the halls of rehab they handed me a burrito
Urine tests dragged on for an hour
Hadn’t slept for a day
And the pink medications clogged up the toilet.
A mask to cover resting schedule.
Broken avocado shells swung from the ceiling
And hallucinations fired
up the euphoric kitchen.
Restless teeth munching on wood.
The cartoon mind spiraled into a manic hole,
Believing ideas that damage growth.
Boundless energy of thoughts
Staying awake until the city lights give up
And I swam in the pool
of toothless sharks,
Biting at perspective
Floating on disillusion.
Chaotic lights flashed
on a happy tear dripping
from
a
paper
bag.
