Through the fog of anger, I remembered catching her in the face with an elbow. I didn’t mean to. I meant to tell her what I thought of her. I never meant to do a lot of things. Bella begged me to stop, to keep moving. All the girls laughing. I turned to Bella, and I caught the blonde one with an elbow. Now, I waited for my phone call. Stevie has enough to bond me in cash from his settlement check. It would be a lot more than a hundred. The guard said twenty-five grand. But it could be more after they call the district attorney. At least you get it back when the case closes. I won’t miss a court date. I’m not that kind of person.
