Music has always played a very important part in my life. First, I have been playing music, both the saxophone and guitar, for about sixty years. While it has never been my main livelihood it has always been a big part of my life and I continue to play gigs in the New Orleans area. Secondly, I draw inspiration from music and musicians in my photography. I am often listening to music or thinking about certain songs or musical passages when I am shooting. And last, I love to photograph musicians. I especially love working here in New Orleans where music is a major part of the fabric of everyday life. Although I have photographed a number of famous musicians, I find tremendous joy working in the small clubs and on the streets of this unique city. I have been involved in photography for a little over fifty years, and earned my living with a camera for nearly as long. I am a native of Detroit, Michigan and have lived in New Orleans since 2009.
