Severance

If I asked you to choose
Between love and comfort,
What would you say?

What if I said you
Could keep the roof,
And the car,
And the body
Where you could project
Any face you wanted?
But the heart would be lost to you
Forever.

Comfort is cheap.
But love comes at a premium,
And isn't that a fucked-up way to be?

Though you wouldn't be the first bargain-hunter
To burst through my door,
Maybe you'd be the last.
