Small World

      Too small for the two of them: this world, 
its deserts, seas, and valleys.  Within days of ordering the destruction 
of his foe, the weaker of the two is 

      counting on a bag of pretzels, chips, or peanuts to prevent 
the inevitable, a moratorium to war, until peace, love, and 
understanding can fertilize the world. 

      Too late for that, so say the protagonists of war.  There is no 
hope, trust, or any such nonsense.  There is no room for talking. 
The cowboys in the sand await their orders.
