Small Affair

I climb into bed alone
  And you the same
Wondering if you think of the way we
  Looked at each other
As you moved in and out of me

There were fairies in the lilacs
  And feathers in the stars
When we made love by the river

Pants around your knees
My skirt lifted
Clenching the ferns and tearing them
  From their roots

Hair wildly wrapped around
  The low foliage
Rocks scarring my back

Wretched woods sounds
Then silence
