I Want to Kiss the Lips of a GirlTo Jonathan Penton's previous piece If Nothing Really MattersTo Jonathan Penton's next piece

You look like a toy to me
Something I could play with
Bend and twist in knots and break and put back together again.

You look smaller from a distance, true, but
even when you are standing next to me
you look terribly fragile. I can smell
your blood, as if it were already on my hands, splattered
perhaps on my shirt sleeves and shoes.

I suggest you toughen up.
You will have little to feel smug about
if I mistake you for a pet
or something put on this world for my amusement.
If I choose to destroy you
I will surely blame you for it.
