She kept you alive
Listening to your heart at night
Breathing free
Inside her
Until your eyes opened -
Every morning she would
Watch them frown - waiting
Like the sunrise,
Do you regret it now?
The way she looked
Like a prayer to fade
In your eyes, always another,
And after you drove to work
She would take a shower
Or two, or three, or four,
Each one staining
The porcelain.
