It's All a Case of A, B, CTo J. Bridges's previous piece To Part IITo Part II

A Poem in Two Parts Due
to Lack of Self Control.

Part I.

I have a
mortgage
with many
years left
to pay…

and a car
in much
the same
position.

And I have
insurance
payments
for the car
with three
months
outstanding
on the
agreement.

And tomorrow
when I go to
the dentist
he’ll do
what he can
which never
seems much.

But now
hunched here
in the yellow
spotlight,
trying to ease
the ache
between my
shoulder
blades,

and even
though there
seems little
in the way
of living…

there is a
life here,
somewhere.

To say that
life is in
the living
is a fair
point…

even when
there seems
little to
live for.

Suicide is
not an
uncommon
thought
amongst the
9 to 5’ers.

Pay packets
lost on the
nags and ale.

Neighbours
threaten
their children.

Shouting
“That’s enough
now…”

And they’re
often right.

“That’s a fucking
‘nough now…

that’s a fucking
‘nough.”
