Nobody Home

I've been to Hell,
knocked on and rattled
the rusty gate.
Surprise, surprise,
nobody home.

I've searched everywhere
for Heaven.
Read many books,
been down on knees,
cried tears dry.
Even said a prayer or two.
Nobody home.

Neither place
is occupied,
at least not
with the intent
of accepting me.

Oh, well,
back to earth,
allowing one
to finally accept
the ultimate – reality.
