Night Song

Millions of stars gleaming
In the black night,
Bright full mooon beaming
Its silvery light;
Nightingale singing
A song from above,
Soft zephers bringing
His message of love.

Sweetly he sings
To his mate in the tree,
The forest rings
With the pure melody;
Ten thousand flowers
Emit fragrant perfume
In leafy bowers
Filled with lilacs in bloom.

A tiny sparrow soars
Beneath the sky
Straight as an arrow.
A hawk passing by
Swooped down upon it
Before it could flee;
Killed it, fed on it
Upon the green lea
While the nightingale sang
To his mate in the tree.
