I wake in ruptured dreams
Trailing like breath
In a cavern.
-
Reality comes with gasps
Like a sideshow
With that little man clicking and describing -
I hold my pillow's waist
Whose flesh reverts to fabric.
-
Her face - her body -
Her hair that flowed like dancers
Under water
Swimming away
Until I lose hope of catching up.
-
I woke in embrace
Like I hold my eyes watering
And drift myself back
Contented and deceived
Nestled to sleep firmly in her arms.
