pick a tiny girl up
throw her to the sky.
Hug her and hello her today
soon they'll not need you
they'll throw you away.
Indifference and other things
increasing with years,
velveteen scraps
of melon shaded dresses
and perfume round her ears.
Give her a smile,
tell her you love her-
her mother's too busy
her father's above her.
