Channeling Spirits with V.D. Cards, or, Why We Didn't Make It to the [Medicinal] Cannibus Cup in L.A.
by Frankie Metro
EPILOGUE

I can't help but address a few issues I'm having as of late, sitting here at a Latin fusion restaurant on a Sunday while Lindsey is waiting tables. I want to focus on this rigid line between gentle indifference and general inertia; more specifically, I feel compelled to speak about the dire need for a more precise definition of the poles' focal points. I am completely unaware of the difference.

The flamenco guitar is nothing without the artist's fingers. It's grown quiet in the room... except for the whispers about the special of the day: Rainbow Trout.

The guitarist is wandering aimlessly near the kitchen. There is laughter from the kitchen. The music escapes the awkward silence, and we know this because of the slamming front door...

I don't understand the rigidity of inertia. I can't conceive ever being indifferent- not in the face of artists, or music, or food. Never silence. I'd rather choke on my butifarra right here, right now, than exist in the middle of general inertia and gentle indifference.

The artist returns after the moment passes. The food has arrived.

I believe it is the duty of artists, music, and food to teach us about ourselves.

If our pallette is weak or unrefined, we have no taste. If the music is stale & immovable, we have no sound. If the artist is left to only speak in gist, jest, or inquiry, we have no room for small talk. Everything becomes averted discussion.

I am fortunate to have missed out on the trip to L.A. My wife and I re-familiarized ourselves with what it is that makes Albuquerque completely unique and unconventional. The food, music and artists filled us to the brink of bursting with excitement and intrigue.

During this weekend, we found that the sustainable source for the bohemian lifestyle lies in the fundamental elements of art, food, and music. Perhaps such a formula isn't too far from being the normal practices of everyone. All we need to do, as a whole, is...

Inserts are welcome here, by all means, but say something that's loud, say something that you know in your heart is worth saying, say everything that comes to mind if it has merit and purpose. Say something, so that everyone can hear you and share the experience.

Don't be indifferent. Fuck inertia, and fuck the prospect of fucking up.
