Three Poems by Vincent A. Cellucci

excerpts from ode to impermanence

the clappers know
we out of ways
of fooling ourselves

indiscreet
sun            DIE
POOF        proof
inside young   precious fetching

what final thoughts do to you

*

still contend death's the final thought
no notice
heard by the next star river azimuth
more                                                  than man
more                                                  than gods
                             division creates
                             symmetry—
                             this existence
                             the only exigence
mortality                                             darkness
                             death is                 thirsty
quenched             only                       by itself

                                                           shards to lips
                             meaning subsists on impermanence

ineligible

she had a nice
opening line
which I immersed
myself in immensely
as subversion
like praying drunk
she had
suicide too
ineligible
to be elderly
cold w/ certainty
felt like all excuse
me drinking a candle's
certitude for silent
conscription
commanded by
a cupola so easily
shattered
or replaced
imperfect
ploy important
morphing contorted
into thin air
supply in
interstellar garage
idling engine
self-permission
stables able
to house
the himalayas
     we don't
somersault off a mtn
     we don't
even decide
it's a drown-off
inexcusable outburst
offended the obvious
statement
you're unwilling
i'm unbecoming
together we are
outta space

And you will be the death of yourself too...

I waited until you were dead
before I read
your dying
tongue doses
the sugar ran out
how I don't leave the house
            until the oven's on
or release the pen
            until it explodes
I'll never finish
              another sentence
w/o slitting its throat for a poem
