Scratching the Surface

I’ve not always saddled
the proper horse.
I sidle off course
as a crab,
wandering aberrant and oblique.
Trodding
on my heels,
as I seek to attain
a sense
of homeostasis.
Always trying to find
that home away from home.
I seek a mate;
continuing side-long,
beside myself.
Never quite burrowing,
never quite finding him.
Wandering,
oblique.
