A short poem about George and meTo Joe Hart's previous piece George, my loveTo Joe Hart's next piece
Liebestod

To crush the bones of my soul,
To suck the breath from my mouth,
Cat-like,
To give until my heart's full
Of receiving;
My sugar-coated nature
Is dissolving into raw
And unsaccharine naked
Sincerity.
And once my soul is eaten,
Leaving only my body to be destroyed,
I'll be killed by the one I love
Who loves me,
Not in passion, though in violence,
A quiet death.
