The printer is toying with him again;
so he gently pries open the encasement
of this electronic puzzle - delicately blows
on its workings as though a gust of air
might awaken this techno-sleeping beauty.

He disengages the cartridge, ready
to give a transfusion. The receptacle
is then put on its back in a recovery position;
soon it will be ready to resume its function.

He then tries to reproduce the words
of an Eliot, a Collins, even a Jewel -
the results are true; yet it will not jettison
his own words onto the page - so he sits there
and stares at the blinking LED and imagines
that it would make a fine editor of poetry.
