Stay Clean

He controls his anger
because he wants to leave this place.
He doesn't want to say
or do anything that will mess up his plans.

He usually takes his meds.
But he likes the highs too much that
he'd rather have crack over the meds.
He says he has learned his lesson for sure.

He plans to be good once he's
on the outside.  He will come to
the clinic for his appointments.
The only crack he will see will be on

the pavement.  He will avoid those
as well because he has always been
superstitious.  This was
long before he was diagnosed.

He says he will miss the big crack bash
they throw each New Year's Eve and Day.
There'd be celebrities
and shit, but he says he'd rather stay clean.
