One More Try

He drank the gasoline.
He laid on the pavement
coughing and vomiting.
He said he had to end
all the drama and
destruction he caused.

He said he had to save
the world from himself
and demanded applause.
Instead his own life
was being saved and he
said they would be sorry.

He said he'd been down
this path many times,
and each time he fell.
He said he could not
be held responsible
for his actions.

He said he'd give it one
more try. He figured
he owed his life
another chance to
do this right. He hoped
it could all work out.
