The Right

What is righteous,
that most German of all
sounding words? The query
ending it all. In the state of
ending it all. Forgiveness,
forgiven, and the piano teacher
went off into her third marriage,
the poor, misgiven one of her second
heralding his weakness, his young boy
inability: why how could he
rescue her if she were alone in the elevator
with the rapist who sped, would have
sped the elevator car down to the basement
touching her all the way down
to where the doors opened on
the man she was seeing, the time
somewhere between her first and second?
And all the climbing
her spirit had been doing out of there
(she was very spiritual)
just ceased once the doors opened and the pawing man
saw the game was up.
