A Prairie in Summer

The blades of grass
rustle in the dry wind,
where the dead lay
giving life to
the whirling grass.
The sun beats down,
the heat rises up
as if soak out
the earth’s vital fluid.
The Prairie is a pagan warrior
scaling the Urban Empire as
Nature takes its course
and the grass grows taller.
