In California

Little cups of something
slick, perfectly round, balanced
on her ribs, pushing her blouse buttons, tee
shirt logo out toward a desert sunset
her whole taut body the bearer of these
good tidings. When she hugs me farewell,
she’s tight all over & the surprise
of those abrupt mounds lingers
while our last air-kiss blows
out over the Mojave like the imitation
winter breeze from lobby
of the Royal Palm Springs Hotel.
