A Hobson's Choice

To rent a horse from Thomas Hobson,
Whether you were rich or poor,
You got the horse that was the nearest
To the livery stable door;
The horse best rested, on rotation,
For Thomas Hobson was humane,
And would not let abusive riders
Ruin his steeds, or cause them pain.
So when you cannot choose what you want,
No matter how loud your voice,
But must accept what you are offered,
Is known as a Hobson's choice.
