For a Girl with White Gold Hair
Who Left Only Her Shirt on a Stuffed Chair
part I

I return to the shores to the gulf shore
Where she and I once watched the stingrays swim.
The cormorant's tail splashed the azure water,
His dark body arose to fly towards pines.
His shadow crossed the spot where you once reclined.
The shadow's darkness filled the dent
Your quivering body once made on the white sand.
