Ecstasy

They say
ignorance is bliss
I think emptiness is
gloominess hiss,
dead lover's kiss.

I say,
I say you say
we may one day
wash our past away,
stand up and say, I'm okay.

I can
maybe I will
clear my thoughts and all my ills;
exist within and cleanse until --
my perfect little world stands good and still.

I live (I do),
I live in a state of suspension oblivion,
constant grip of suspicion (I do),
no firm hold over any close companion.

I can
oh yes I can,
starve all my pleasure,
and now the one desire,
the nullifying pain and pressure;
a most ironical rapture.
