Virginia Slims

A comfortable friend
Gracefully slithering
In
And
Out
Of my mouth
Floating relief
Into my stressed reality
Granting me
A brief exile
From the turning watch-clocks
Controlling my life.

And when I exhale
She removes
My Catholic schoolgirl stains-
  The binding resentments
Trapped within my permanent plaid skirt
While simultaneously
  Whipping
Her incidious hand
Around my neck
Strangulating time with
Slinking gray shadows
Into the bellows
Of my incinerator
Lynching me of my life.

Bitch.
