green and sweet
rotting

we're on vacation,
we aren't even thinking
about the mess we're
going to come home to.

someone broke in 
& kicked holes in the walls. 
the vases are on the floor, 
smashed.

get a tube of glue --
grab a broom, too.
how could they have
done this to us?
we're nice people -- we
don't deserve this.

no answers today --
I'll keep checking
the voice mail.

I'd say that this
was an emergency.
we can break out
those nasty rations --

powdered: 
eggs, 
pork, 
citrus drink mix 

but no water. 

we'll have
to use tears or
blood.
