No Arrival.

lay these written lines across the road
where once men scrambled for the chance
to see a god rise from the mud
and angels dance across his steps
because the world has ended here
in one stare focused across a table in the park
rage fills the void that crumbling statues left
the air lets its needles pour through the nerves
one body contains all the bodies in the world
whether they are starved or full
the pull of gravity makes music in the hanging hands
a strummed guitar stops the apocalypse
distant airports erupt with cheers
for no arrival.
