What Tracey Said

a day at the mall:

Tracey tries on a frock
books a hair appointment
buys some underwear
keeps going to
the women's toilet
talks about how
she was nearly there
together with me
in last night's bed
but could'nt greet
so not quite

Tracey comments on
how some of the people
laugh at us chatting
some of the people
stare at us
some of them
barge right over us
some of them
refuse

to get out of our way
& some look right through

we sit down
she and i on a bench
and share my
last cigarette

the one thing i recall
is Tracey saying
' what if I exist only in your mind '.

must stop thinking
in terms of life and death
look for shades
of balance
