Stake in the Ass

When first I got to prison
I started to write a song
about prosecuting attorneys
but I couldn't find a rhyme
for snake in the grass
except for what I felt
had been done to me
(and self pity rings as a sour note)
so I decided to write one about
lying thieving no count vermin
called "Police" but
I don't care much
for country western whines
with their faithful dogs
lying dead on the hiway
so I wrote me this here poem
about a broken streetlamp:

a righteous valor
once lighting the world
now hangs from the post in darkness
and sways in a cold desert breeze
