Look like burgundy petals
Through drunken eyes teary

The astringent reach
Of a wire-strewn street
Looks octopus-armed
Through a windshield cracked

The mountain's spine
Looks borderline'd
Through an apartment window's
Claustrophobic eye

All conversations
Sound pink and tinny
Through the spittled holes
Of a pay telephone
