moms and ladies get mixed up

I knew I could count on you.
you can make change for my one slim dime,
you can cook brownies in sunlit kitchens,
you can talk of your parents and not puke,
you can even put up your dukes,
and defend this man from a raucous life,
of freedom and grace.
thank you mam for a great and wonderful life,
next time lay me across the railroad tracks,
as a babe and kindly watch the train go by.
