Dead Cull

I'm glad that I began
to eat them when I did
because there was a weltering
right were the heart budges ribs

a sure sign of impending somethings
some things not defined
still coming
but now I'm fine

I chewed on mom's old boyfriend
who never tasted better than today
I whomp whomped him down
not in a fury like you'd think
but with slow relish
just like the time I discovered
the taste of carrots and caesars dressing

there were others in between but last
were the Misses' Smith
who whuffled "I knew it"
when I got pregnant at fifteen
They were notably good
